The National TFS Office, established in 2007, is an office within Dublin City Council, which was nominated as the Competent Authority for all waste being exported, imported and transiting through Ireland under Regulation EC No 1013/2006.
The function of the Office is to ensure compliance with:
- Regulation (EC) No 1013/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of June 14, 2006 on Shipments of Waste
- Waste Management (Shipments of Waste) Regulations 2007 – established the National TFS Office and nominated Dublin City Council as the Competent Authority for Ireland
- Waste Management (Registration of Brokers and Dealers) Regulations 2008
The National TFS Office will be playing a coordinating role in organising and leading the annual Best Practice meetings of the LIFE SWEAP Project.
