A representative of the LIFE SWEAP team will take part in a panel discussion :“Global electronics waste flows: how to improve high-quality recycling?”
This deep-dive workshop will focus on the global movements of electronics waste, and evaluate the main priorities for improving circularity and maximising recovery of valuable and critical metals.
The workshop’s starting base will be the European regulatory and market framework. The organisers will evaluate a number of key priorities for facilitating high-quality recycling of electronics waste on a global scale. This will include three main topics:
- Barriers and bureaucracy impacting EU and international e-waste shipments
- Non-compliant recycling, and the need for recyclers to meet minimum standards
- Illegal shipments, and the importance of improving capacities at ports
Objective of the workshop
The workshop’s objective is to evaluate the major barriers to high-quality recycling of Europe’s electronics waste on a global level, and then work towards a prioritisation of tangible solutions.
